Digging through the archives of sometime library is a blast . reckon on the library , you ’ll find out everything from date architectural drawings to snippets of old children ’s record . you could just imaginethe treasure to be found in the British Library ’s ancient archive . And , now , you do n’t even have to get your fingers dusty !
The British Libraryjust uploaded over a million persona from the 17th to the 19th one C to Flickr Commons . Since the British Empire span the earth during this catamenia of time , that means thousands upon one thousand of old biological illustrations and more than one offensive picture of “ natives ” are now uncommitted to all through the internet . That ’s on top of all the weird old British political cartoon and an unreasonable number of Abraham Lincoln portraits .
We comb out through a choice of the new collection and pulled some of the more — well — we discover some weird pictures , basically . The British Library presents them largely without context , and so we will , too .
