And , finally , it ’s nice to hold . perchance it could be an inch bigger ! Sure . But as it is , the Fire feels honest in your paw , regardless of what kind of stuff you ’re stimulating your mentality with . It ’s a great screen for gracious thing to look at .

A smartphone , by definition , needs to be right smart more than the Fire defines itself as . It want to make and take call , commit message , kill email , snap terrific picture , and manoeuver you around town . Amazon could easily stop up a phone into Prime , of course — it ’s just a matter of software . But would we want it ? How often do we stream flick on our phone , as fight back to pad , computing machine , or television ? When was the last time you read an full book on your smartphone ? The mini screen is great for YouTube or personal video recording , but are you going to check a film on your earpiece unless you ’re stuck on four hour bus topology ride and that ’s your only deviation ?
To achieve any of this on a phone , most significantly Amazon would have to gut its port — the shelf would be shattered . The Fire ’s minimalist UI just would n’t interpret to a phone ’s pocket-sized screen — you could n’t say anything . It ’d be a incubus . So it ’d have to make their Android twist seem more like an Android gimmick , which would be a regrettable regression , and one less reason to care . What hullabaloo is there in yet another Android telephone set in a flaming lake of them , even if it carries Kindle stigmatisation and Prime access ? Without the ledge metaphor , the Fire would be just another tablet , and a Kindle phone would be just another handset .
So please , Amazon — stick with what you ’ve done well . Nobody thought you could pull off a genuine pad of paper , but you did with aplomb . But do n’t get cocky . You ’ll have sex it all up . multitude might bribe the Fire because it says KINDLE on it , but they ’ll enjoy it because of the invention . I doubt we ’ll be able to say the same about a phone .
