Amazon is trying its deal at earbuds again after stumbling out of the logic gate with its first pair of Echo Buds in 2019 . The improvements , I ’m mildly irritated to say , are good .
Amazon ’s ironware is all over the spot : ItsKindlelineup is excellent but still sports microUSB ports , its impertinent displays are very good but alsomildly creepy , itsfirst seaworthiness trackerwas horrifyingly trespassing , and its first - gen Bluetooth earbuds were outdated from the saltation ( see , again , microUSB ) and did n’t sound bully . I was n’t sure what to anticipate when the Alexa - forward second - gen Echo Buds come on my doorstep , but I have to admit , when evaluating the latest buds against the rest of the increasingly competitive plurality of other Bluetooth earbuds , the new ace are priced so well that the petty issues I have are n’t dealbreakers . They also sound middling good .

Boring Design Is Perfectly Fine
The Echo Buds reckon almost completely loose of personality or trademark until you peer closely at each earbud and acknowledge the Amazon smile logotype . Virtually no one wants to wear Amazon ’s logotype in their ear , but the ignominious logotype on pitch-black earbud is so faint as to be nearly invisible . The charging example is also denounce , but the smile is on the bottom of the twist so no one can see it . Surprisingly Good Audio

But overall the Echo Buds are well - equilibrise , and the ability to adjust the EQ in the Alexa app means I can bump up the bass as much as I want .
Battery Life Could Be Better
The 2d - gen Echo Buds come in two version : the $ 120 model , which charges via USB - cytosine , and a pricier $ 140 version , which has both USB - C and supports wireless charging with any Qi charger .
