Batman has a bit of a rep among comic fans for being … well , a bit invincible . Always with a plan , always finding a way to succeed against out of the question odds , for a mortal , Batman can stand alongside gods and do just swell . However , today ’s Justice League # 42 leans into that report … quite literally .
Spoilers , of course , for Justice League # 42 .
The Justice League comic is beak up with the threads left off before DC ’s Convergence issue — with an issue of its own , Darkseid War . A conflict between the Anti - Monitor and Darkseid ( as well as his Darkseid ’s daughter ) has leave the League catch in the middle between the New Gods , and the difference of opinion in Justice League # 42 see to it one of those graven image , Metron the God of Knowledge , get split from his hefty , all knowing float place - time charming death chair . You bonk , as you do .

The League attempt to bar the chairperson before it teleports itself off , leaving Metron and themselves at the mercifulness of the Anti - Monitor . So … Batman sits on it .
And then this happens :
in conclusion , after many age of the great unwashed snarking that Batman might as well be a god , Batman ( specifically Bruce Wayne , rather than the current Batman rolling around in the funnies ) is now actually a divinity . We can stop jest !

But that ’s not the biggest shocker in this issue . What does our Lord and Bat - God do for his first act of god ? Well , being a God of Knowledge , he asks the electric chair a question :
Oh dear . That ’s not proceed to go down well .
gift how radically unlike Justice League is at the bit in comparison to the shakeups in DC ’s other comics , it ’s easy to sham that this is a temporary position for Batman . But if he actually remember the Joker ’s real identity going forrard , we ’re in for some good old fashioned comic Good Book lunacy in the near future .
