Not only did last night ’s episode of Fringe have some dandy nipple commentary , occasion by a virus that Hulks people out , but it also brought us some closure on a bragging mystery .
Called “ The Transformation , ” this episode had the usual creepy-crawly scare and shiver – including what has now become a little bit of a ready-made scenario on Fringe , where a defendant goes virusy while being interrogated by Agent Olivia and the scoobies . Our virus of the week was something that make the great unwashed to Hulk out . First they get nosebleed , then they turn into spiney monsters , then they kill everybody . Then they die due to mega - variation .
There were some fun scenes of Peter and Olivia going clandestine to catch a bad guy mention Conrad who is sell the Hulk Virus – on the face of it “ just because he can . ” I love a bioterrorist who does it for fun , though of class that sort of makes him more like a in series killer than a terrorist . Usually terrorists have some form of political motivation , and it seems Conrad and his gang were just making and selling this stuff for the highest bidder . That also means they probably are n’t part of the Pattern , but somehow overlap with it a trivial bit . Somebody please make me a Venn diagram of the Pattern , in which one circle is for “ bioterrorists who do it for merriment , ” and another one is “ hush-hush secret quadruple agent who work for the NSA and secret manufacture . ” Not sure what the third Mexican valium should be .
Anyway , Olivia is a super badass as usual , and gets the terrorists . But the more interesting part of this episode was the re - emergence ( yay ! ) of suspicious biotech companionship Massive Dynamic and my imaginary lady friend , Massive Dynamic VP Nina Sharp .
A few episode ago , we learned that Nina had observe Olivia ’s X - boyfriend John Scott ’s body in a state of undeath so she could undertake to read the memory in his mind . Unfortunately , all those retention had been transferred to Olivia ’s psyche during one of mad scientist Walter ’s undead psychic experiments with the isolation tank . The closing off tank ( which entail “ Olivia in cute undies ” ) was in weighed down rotation last night because Olivia keeps see John ’s memory of the terrorists they ’re chase . Olivia also happen upon that the Hulk Virus terrorist all have short glass floppy disks implanted in their hands “ from the NSA . ” Knowing that John worked with these terrorists – based on her computer storage – Olivia demands that bossman Broyles exhume ex-wife - bf ’s consistence .
And finally Broyles has to reveal that Nina still has John Scott ’s eubstance . Nina say they kept him around to seek to read the glass floppy in his hired man , because the phonograph record ego - destruct when their host dies . BUT ! You and I and the other Fringe daimon know that they actually kept John to read his BRAIN , not the disk . So Olivia still only knows part of the deep truth .
While she ’s tanking out and blab out to the John in her head , Olivia also learns that maybe John was a undecomposed guy after all . He say he was a duple - top-notch - secluded NSA factor , who was put to work hugger-mugger with the bioterrorists to ferret out Conrad . Could the John in Olivia ’s head teacher be lie ? candidly , it ’s hard to say . No matter what you and I think , Olivia feels much better about buzz off it on with John now that she thinks he ’s a serious guy wire again . They share a fond moment where they say “ I love you , ” and then Walter support that the John parts of Olivia ’s brain have been flush . So the John in her head is dead , but he ’s left a warm schmoopy feeling behind .
Still , his undead torso remains at Massive Dynamic . I predict more John in future episodes . Also , what about these other super - duper - secret NSA guys he supposedly worked with undercover on the Conrad case ? Will they be back , too ?
All I can say is that right now , a bunch of NSA agents are slap each other on the backs and tell , “ Dude , this show make us look totally amazing . What we really do is work in basement write report about signals word , but on Fringe we like kick fundament and push Hulk computer virus and crap . ”
Also , as a first-rate - duper - secret person ask me today : When are we going to observe out that Olivia ’s collaborator Charlie is a double federal agent ? To which I impart : Or a four-fold agent ? Sextuple federal agent ? Is there a way to fancy out how many layers of top-notch - factor you are by counting your nipples ?
