Today , BlackBerry is giving usour first lookat one of the key feature of BB 10.3 : A voice assistant . Like everything else the fellowship formerly know as RIM does these days , BlackBerry Assistant would have been radical year ago . Today , it ’s just an obvious feature that ’s too later to make it a discriminator .
The blog post announcing Blackberry Assistant is thin on details or any form of demonstration , but it does give us a very canonical overview of what the tool might be capable of . All of it , seems pretty standard . For example :
If I ’m drive and I inquire it to read my late electronic mail subject matter to me , it does so . I can then necessitate it to “ Mark Unread ” without having to enter the BlackBerry Hub . If I ’m in a coming together and I type “ prompt me to follow up with Matt about our whiteboard sitting , ” it builds me a monitor notation that I can save without depart the Assistant .
Oh and you may use your voice to turn on the flashlight . That ’s pretty dandy I approximate . But overall , the voice supporter does n’t do anything we have n’t seen from theApple , Google , and Microsoft competitors . And like the company’sboxy newfangled Passport phone , it plausibly wo n’t be enough to fight back against the decline , no matter how many times thecompany says it ’s still alive . But since we have n’t tried it yet , it ’s only fair to wait and see if BlackBerry Assistant can keep up when it ’s available in the fall .
