Boxee held a big developer ’s group meeting today in San Francisco , and boy did they pack in the proclamation . away from Windows documentation , the political platform as a whole now support Digg , Tumblr , and MLB . Most significantly , it ’s finally leaving alpha soon .
At the event , Boxee announced that they ’ll last be moving out of alpha to beta starting this September . And they ’ve got openhanded changes in stock : For one , Windows support .
Boxee’ll have some blind drunk contention on Windows ; anybody who ’s used Windows Media Center acknowledge that it ’s one of the good pieces of software Microsoft ’s ever made . But Boxee ’s support for streaming picture , along with raw social networking sites , MLB.tv , and embracing of apps ( over 120 in totality ) makes it the media nerd ’s 10 - foot software package . alas , Hulu is still off limits , as they refuse to allow for Boxee to access it .
There may be even more good stuff in the future : Boxee CEOAvner Ronenhinted that if there ’s enough interest , they might produce an iPhone app establish on Boxee . We ’ll keep our fingers crossed for that one . [ TechCrunch ]
