Watching Chuck last dark , two things occurred to me . foremost , somewhere between last week and this , the show turned into Alias – only without the merriment dress - up part . And second , if I had work to Stanford , I believably would ’ve had a very different career history by this breaker point in my life story . Spoilers lie forwards , nerdherders . One affair that “ Chuck Versus The Fat Lady ” ( because there was a scene in an opera ! Do n’t get me incorrect ; I ’m no rooter of the idea that Chuck always has to be lamentable and/or that Sarah is his one , on-key , unreciprocated love , but Jordana Brewster ’s performance as “ the one that get away , only to return and as an undercover vicious secret undercover agent ” – Something that became inquisitively obvious as before long as she was “ kidnapped ” midway through the episode , leading to a savourless and underwhelming reveal in the last five minutes – has been so fantastically flat and lifeless that even before her closed book was revealed , I was hope that she ’d twist out to be malefic or have to make a heroic sacrifice as soon as potential , just to get rid of her . That said , the idea that Jill – like Chuck and fellow Stanford scholarly person Bryce Larkin – just so materialise to be a superspy moderately stretches credibleness on an already ridiculously unconvincing show . I admit that I wish the mind that Jill is such Kryptonite to Chuck that he terminate up going against the advice of his friends , home and conscientious objector - workers ( not to cite his common sense ) , just like he did back in college ; it ’s a overnice way to boot the character , who was begin to get a little bit too estimable at his double life , thereby get the better of the assumption of the show . It ’ll be bad enough that Chuck will have gotten over her , thereby remove the last of his original hang - ups that made him the underperforming grind when we first meet him ; if she ca n’t come back to twist the knife every now and again , I worry that we ’ll be stuck with the hyper - effective , thinking - outside - of - the - box Charles Carmichael for the rest of the serial publication . ) But despite the episode ’s “ I bed you , but undercover agent work keeps us asunder – And you ’re a spy as well ! ” max operatics , it was n’t a thoroughgoing wasteland of an hour last night … surprisingly due to the Buy More scenes , which – helped by Tony Hale ’s great unexampled character – not only tied into the main plot for once , but also provide the laughter and sneakiness that the spy hooey unremarkably handles . If we can have more of that in the hereafter ( and a hope from show creators that Hale is n’t go to turn out to be a spy the next time traverse comes around ) , then I ’ll be a well-chosen viewer . It ’s sad that , after last week ’s time of year best ( Chuck and Casey kissing to heal disease ! Yvonne Strahovski using her real accent as Sarah undercover ! ) , this week ’s episode was so miserable , but I ’m hop that next week will attract out of the second act slump … even if it ’s only due to the grace generated by lose Jill for awhile .
