Long story short , Google will announce a novel first step to become a Mobile Virtual internet Operator ( MVNO ) in the come months . ( MVNO’sare companies like TracFonethat buy up internet services from infrastructure owners at wholesale and betray them to the public at a rebate . ) Google ’s Sundar Pichai revealed the task at Mobile World Congress and likened the first step to its Nexus plan for hardware .
In other words , wading into wireless water supply would allow Google to do for wireless what Nexus does for hardware : experiment on a lowly scale leaf . you may also liken it to what Google Fiber is doing with gamy - speed cyberspace . “ We do n’t intend to be internet operator at scale , ” Pichai said in Barcelona .
