Forty is the new 20!
Joel Maddencelebrated the big 4-0 Monday — and his wifeNicole Richiemarked the milestone with sweet birthday wishes and a throwback photo of the couple from their younger years.
In the pic, the then-brunettedesigner, now 37, cuddled up to the Good Charlotte rocker as she snapped a selfie.
“Here we are at 25 & 27. Today you’re 40. Happy Birthday to my P.I.C., my ride or die, & my best friend for life @joelmadden,” shecaptioned the photowith three black heart emojis.

Maddensent his own birthday wishout to Benji, sharing a photo of the two. “Happy Birthday to my partner and best friend @benjaminmadden,” he wrote.
Benji soon replied in his own post. “My twin brother @joelmadden We left home with 50$ and a guitar. With No where else to turn we decided to go forward into the world and try to make something more of our lives than what others may have thought likely or possible. We made a deal that we’d never let anything come between us and we never broke that promise,” he wrote.
“You’re my best friend and I am grateful the universe decided to put us in this lifetime together. Watching you be the husband and father that you are makes me the most proud. Thanks for always having my back brother. Wouldn’t standing here today with out you- I know that, And I’m so glad I am. Happy 40th Birthday, let’s do 40 more and then some more after that!! I love you Man ❤️❤️❤️”
The couple, who are parents to daughterHarlow, 11, and son Sparrow, 9, make sure to make birthdays a family affair from year-to-year.
In 2016, Madden wished his wife a happy birthday with a sweet and silly photo on Instagram as well.
“Best Mom, Best Friend, Best Wife. Happy Birthday Nicole, you keep us all laughing…” he captioned the shot.

The celebrations include Benji and wife Diaz, as well. Ahead of theCharlie’s Angelsactress’ 46th birthday last August, Diaz took a break from her low-key lifestyle fora celebratory dinnerwith Richie and Zoe Saldana in Los Angeles. The outing was a rare sighting of Diaz, who has been enjoying her quiet life with husband Benji.

A source previously told PEOPLE that Diaz and the rocker “are great” and “both very happy living the quiet life” after they wed in 2015.
“The quiet life she lives now with Benji, she wanted for a long time,” the source added.
