Bohemian Rhapsody‘sRami Malekand Lucy Boynton may have stayed apart on the red carpet at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, but the pair didn’t hide their affection once they got inside the show.
The couple looked in great spirits as they sat next to each other during the awards show, an insider tells PEOPLE.
“They’re glancing at each other and exchanging knowing laughs during the show,” the source says. “He also checked in with her before leaving the table during a commercial break like a boyfriend would.”

The pair walked the carpet separately before heading inside — Malek, 37, in an all-black Dior Men suit with a Cartier watch and Boynton, 24, wearing a multicolored gown with a sheer polka dot overlay, Harry Winston jewels and a black velvet bow in her hair.

They first met on the set of SAG-nominated filmBohemian Rhapsody, where the actor portrayed Queen frontman Freddie Mercury and Boynton played Mary Austin. Austin was Mercury’s former fiancée and lifelong confidant who inherited half of his estate when he died from complications of AIDS in 1991. The acclaimed biopic earned a SAG nomination for Best Cast in a Motion Picture.
“I love Freddie Mercury’s style. I thought for starting out it was just going to be the ’80s that I dug a lot but I got to sa there is something about the glam rock I can get down with as well,” Malek told PEOPLE on the red carpet.
Malek, who is also nominated for Best Male Actor in a Leading Role for his performance inBohemian Rhapsody,confirmed his relationshipwith his costar just weeks before theirSAG Awardsdate night.

“Thank you, Lucy Boynton. You have been my ally, my confidant, you are my love,” he said as he shouted the actress out at the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Film Awards Gala while accepting the award for breakthrough performance. “I appreciate you so much.”
But despite only recently going public with their romance, Malek and Boynton haven’t shied away from showing some P.D.A.
In August, the two werespotted grabbing lunch together in Los Angeleswhile walking arm-in-arm. At one point, they shared a kiss while sitting next to each other while grabbing food. And the duo was also seen together in May at a U2 concert in Los Angeles.
